How to play Daily Murder Sudoku
A murder has been committed, and it’s up to you to solve the case. Read the cards and place everyone on the grid, including the victim. Every statement is true, and your solution must satisfy them all. No two people can share a row or a column. The victim’s room must contain exactly two people: the victim and one suspect. That suspect is the murderer.

Select a person, then tap a cell to add their letter as a pencil note. When you’re certain of their position, hold the cell to place them. The board automatically marks the rest of their row and column with an X.

Pay close attention to the wording of clues. “With” means anywhere in the same room, while “beside” means directly next to an object or patch of ground, in the same room (never diagonally). “Alone” means nobody else is in that room. Open the Help in the main menu for the full definitions and illustrated examples.

Use the X tool to mark cells you’ve ruled out, the eraser to clear a cell, and the arrows to undo or redo a move. Holding the eraser clears the whole board. The hint tool counts your mistakes.

Once everyone is placed, the verdict starts automatically. Green circles show correct placements; red circles show incorrect ones. Get every placement right to unmask the murderer.
Daily Murder Sudoku Tips and Tricks
  • Trust every statement. Even the murderer’s clue is true. Solve the case by finding where everyone belongs.
  • Start with the most restrictive clues. A corner, a specific distance, or being alone can narrow someone’s possible positions quickly.
  • Use pencil notes while you work. Mark possible positions with a tap, and hold to place someone once the evidence is conclusive.
  • Check rows and columns after every placement. Each person rules out their entire row and column for everyone else. Look for people with only one possible cell remaining.
  • Read direction clues carefully. “North of” means anywhere in a higher row, not necessarily directly above. Likewise, an exact row or column distance only constrains that axis. N, S, E and W are indicated next to the game grid.
  • Distinguish rooms from cells. Two people can share a room, but they still cannot share a row or column. The victim must share their room with exactly one suspect.
  • Remember what “walls” means. Wall clues refer to the board’s outermost rows and columns. A corner is where two outer walls meet.
  • Combine clues when you get stuck. Revisit earlier statements as the board fills up. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved without guessing.
